History

The World Aid Walk has become a Guernsey tradition. It began in 1970 as a small local initiate by Guernsey teacher Ken Wild and friend Roy Banniers, as a way of teaching children social responsibility through positive action. Since then it's touched generations of Guernsey people and raised more than three quarters of a million pounds to help people in need.

As 2010 marks the 40th year of the event, we're asking you to think back over your memories of the Walk and share your stories with us. Perhaps you have some photos of the event or other memorabilia that you could send to us. We'll use your memories and pictures to tell the bigger story of the history of the World Aid Walk, and you'll help us make our 40th anniversary truly special!

Please send your memories to us at info@worldaidwalk.org.gg or contact Candice McGeoch on 735847.
